The Man Who Liked Dickens

Read that, it's an O. Henry-type short story written by Waugh, and gets to the entire point of this pointless movie a lot faster. No reason for Waugh to have bothered to flesh it out to a full length novel.

I don't agree - 2 different animals. The short story was a very smart and ironic tale with a gruesome twist. The novel was an indictment of a class of people that Waugh saw as emerging in England who were so greedy and selfish that they would destroy everything precious in life to get what they wanted.
