terrible mask and terrible film

Can't believe the hype this one gets. A real turd.

It hasn't aged well, I'll admit that. But at the time, 1988. Right after the failure of III people wanted Michael back no matter how they got him. It was a sign of the times. A new generation, like myself got to see Michael on the big screen for the first time. It was a "comeback". Now with so many movies after it, that lessened it's impact. I always thought of it as a Lifetime movie. But to be fair, again, it was a product of the late 80s horror. Before the teeny bopper 90s films changed the game. Also, different creative forces, it's not a Carpenter-Hill film. Writer's strike didn't help. Anniversary didn't help. But all in all, not a turd, but a decent B flick for what it was.

You failed to mention that Myers was burnt to a crisp in part 2. So did Loomis.

reply

Loomis is a little harder to get around, but people have survived burns,.explosions and fires before. Besides, it's a horror movie. Suspension of disbelief is a must. As for Myers, come on, really? He's not a man, he's not human. He's more than that. Supernatural, super-human, whatever you want to call it, setting him on fire only slowed him down. Again, horror movie. Jason was dead, buried, then gets hit by lightning and gets re-animated. That's even worse than burns. Unstoppable killers are just that.

If you're going to start applying logic and reason to movies, especially horror movies, you're in for a major disappointment. Movies are meant to entertain, not make sense.

Why Does Michael Myers' Mask Look So Bad In ‘Halloween 4’?

And don't get us started on those shoulder pads!

I agree. Mediocre, at best. Halloween III is a far better movie in most regards.

I have seen all of them and this one is the third best film in my opinion. H1 H2 H4......H20 H5 H6 H3............. H8

Zombies films, H1 would probably fall after H6 and H2 would sit pretty close to H8

Poor mask, good movie.

It unquestionably contains some silly moments that haven’t aged very well. Nonetheless, this is one of the stronger movies in the series. And why is that? Solid performances, it’s thoroughly entertaining and tense, its tone is suitably sinister, and most impressively it arguably nails the Halloween atmosphere better than all the other movies in the series. I, too, didn’t see what was so special about it once... but the more I watched it, the more I saw a well-put together and Creepy-ish Halloween movie.

Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers is one of the better sequels, but Michael's bad mask could have been fixed with one simple change.
