Jamie, do you remember Lindsey?

Of course I remember Lindsey. My uncle attacked her 10 years ago to the day when she was my age and you keep bringing her around and asking if I remember her, you bitch.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the name was an homage to the original but the character wasn't actually intended to be THE same character.

reply

I believe it was mentioned in the audio commentary of the H4 Blu Ray.
But yes, it was meant to be homages to both Lindsay, Rachel's friend and Tommy, Brady's friend from the first film. Although Lindsay is mis-credited as Leslie at the end. You can clearly hear Rachel say Lindsay.

I wonder why they had her for one scene and that's it. She had much potential.

reply

Neither she nor Tommy were part of the story. Just cameo homages, nods to the original. In the end, they would have been death fodder.

"Jamie, do you remember Tommy? Do the names Lindsey and Tommy ring any bells, Jamie? Hmmm? Jamie? Why are you crying?"

I doubt she ever met Tommy. It's not like they hung out together. As for Lindsey, she probably doesn't know her connection to her uncle. Even so, Lindsay seemed well balanced for her experience. Tommy in 6 on the other hand, deep end.

But honestly, this all happened before she was born? What the hell could she do about it? She did nothing and she has no control over her family. Lindsay could've been a babysitter too, like the one that cancelled on the Carruthers. That's a connection. Jamie was 7, you don't exactly spring that sort of thing on a 7 year old girl.

It's just that every day is Halloween at Jamie's house because her uncle's the boogieman and her mommy's a mummy.

Yes, but how often does she get teased like this on every other day of the year? Not much. I'm sure he adoptive parents or even her birth parents may have mentioned family, since he was the nightmare man, but I doubt they pointed Lindsay out and said hey, weren't you that kid my Mom babysitted? Rachel mentioned she was, but that's different.

"Jamie, do you remember Lindsey?" "Why yes, yes I do. Now we aren't going to see any more of her until H5 only for her to die off pitifully." "True."

reply

Lindsay wasn't in 5.

Then why was she even necessary in H4?!

reply

Because the writers wanted to homage and honor the two carry over victims that actually survived that Halloween night, Tommy and Lindsay. It was nice acknowledging the previous films and answers whatever happened to. They weren't integral to the story, just nice little shout outs. Continuity, tradition, respect, take your pick. Marion, gone. Laurie, gone. Brackett and Hunt, gone. Loomis and Michael were practically the only two people from Halloween II to make it to 4.

I guess that makes sense, at least Tommy had a part in H6 (regardless of how retarded H6 was). Marion and Laurie did come back in your favorite installment H20 :^)

reply

H20 is *not* my favorite installment. Not by a long shot. It was too much like Scream, not enough like Halloween. Even had Scream 2 on TV. Unnecessary. John Ottman got screwed out of his score, which actually wasn't that bad. Use Carpenter, Howarth, just not Beltrami. Horrible Michael in Durand.

The only redeeming qualities were Laurie, Marion and a few hot women. Not sure which sequel I like best, they all have flaws. The original's a given, but after that, it went downhill, even though each had a piece, score, hot women, story, etc. that made it worth watching.

reply

The movies ignore part 4-6. So it's as if Jamie never existed... That's why Laurie only talks about john.

reply

Laurie didn't like Jamie very much.

reply

It IS Lindsey from the first film(the character, not actress). Just listened to the commentary today.
