Gyunei says that Char is into young girls and only goes out with Nanai to keep up appearances. thats... really messed up.

Nanai, Gyunei and Quess, herself, all seem to think that Char has taken a romantic and/or sexual interest in Quess. But he may have just found it useful to pretend to be romantically interested in Quess so as to manipulate her. He obviously felt her abilities were an asset.
