Ending? is it necessary for the two main characters to die.

I first saw this when it made it's American debut on cartoon network's Adult Swin back in 2003, *spoilers* ,although I am very familiar with Yoshiyuki Tomino's work in killing popular characters in his series I found it to be very unecssary to end a 10 year old manga/anime with a story that kills off probably one of the best rivarys between two anime characters {Char and Armuro}. I also don't believe that the story's answer for the two heroes' death {"overloaded psycho frames"} is a good idea to end a masterpiece from the start. I just think it could of had a better ending.

I was completely disappointed by the entire thing. Not bringing Sayla back, focusing on new, one dimensional, annoying characters that add nothing to the story then die as pointlessly as they lived, Char's complete change of character from Zeta and to a lesser extent MSG... I can't believe how much potential Yoshiyuki Tomino squandered after MSG's conclusion. It's a damn shame.

Well, while I know it had some artistic value; I agree, it sucked that Amuro and Char died in such a stupid and unclear way. So... does that metal T absorbs the souls of people or somethin'?

I agree, Sayla should had appeared and might bring in some peace between them, and finally setting up with Amuro as it should had been.
