The rating of this movie is low because of the USA version

The french version is a masterpiece with an awsome ending. Why did Luc Besson stupidified the ending for the USA.
The soundtrack is diferent too ... a lot worse.

The french version makes this movie one of the best ever. The USA version makes this movies just another good movie.

And the movie was written with the european mentality that the non-european will not capture so well.

What a pity!

I agree.

When I first saw this movie I loved it. Then I had a friend from Holland that was visiting me and she was surprised by the USA version. She told me that I am missing out if I don't see the "true" version of this movie.

Years later when DVDs became the thing, this was the first movie I bought and I was so mad that the USA got such a crappy version.

This is my favorite movie of all time!

What is the difference between the two versions ? Is the ending very different ?

SPOILER:

The European version leaves you to feel he probably dies at the end, while the US version clearly shows he's still alive.

Just a guy in Texas who loves movies. 

I've only seen the director's cut and I gave it a 6. Certainly not a great film, but then Besson is not a great director, just look at 'Fifth Element'
