White Silk She-Sleen

What a Be-atch! Is this woman ever going to get over herself? Ute is really beautiful! So caring and compassionate! But El-in-or just considers her a fool for being a nice person. I can't wait until Miss High-And-Mighty learns some true humility. I was glad when Verna got kidnapped because she thought she was better than the Kajirae. But I have to give her props for the way she is handling her captivity. Far classier than El-in-or. I'm just up to the part where their wagon train is being raided so I guess they will be abducted. I am hoping Verna will be abducted by the same man and the two of them will end up on the same chain. I also wonder who that talking animal is who is also a master. I guess I'll find out.

I'm reading this book out of sequence as the one I am up to hasn't arrived yet in the mail. I'm waiting for Assassin of Gor. But I figured it wouldn't hurt anything because Tarl isn't in this one so not being current on his life shouldn't matter. I see Ko-ro-ba is intact in this one, whether it has been restored or this all happened before it was destroyed, I don't know.

This book is interesting as it makes one think about what is freedom and what is slavery. The Kajirae in this book kind of remind me of Geisha. Targo apparently wants to market Elinor's virginity, like that girl in Memoirs of a Geisha. I'm also reminded of another movie I saw about Geisha where a Geisha said, "To us, ego is an embarrassment," while another said, "The only garment for our frail humanity is not the Kimono but dignity."

Her punishment was way harsh! I'm surprised she didn't get ill being put in the box right after such a heavy whipping and branding. I have never lost consciousness from pain. I can't even imagine what it would be like. And now she's being ostracized. She has certainly paid for her sins. My anger is appeased. She has learned a lot about herself although she's still got problems. I think her Master will help her sort them out.

BTW, I got Assassin of Gor so I'm good to go.

I finished Captive of Gor. She was a lot nicer in the end. Now I'm reading Assassin of Gor. I don't understand why they call slaves "animals." So free women are not animals but they change their species after they are enslaved? I agree with Miss October that they are sometimes really abusive to slaves like when they kept Virginia and Phyllis in a cage where they couldn't stretch out their bodies so long they couldn't walk. As Sura said, "You have almost crippled them!" And it's dangerous to leave someone alone in bondage as Tarl did to Vella. Hot fantasy, though. I don't know how people can think they can live the Gorean lifestyle for real. Do you know any Gorean lifestylers?

I guess they don't take it as far as the books do.

I knew a couple of Gorean lifestylers in university; perhaps I should say "wannabe lifestylers", because neither of them could keep a girlfriend for longer than a couple of months.

So I guess just abducting them on tarn back wasn't feasible. Well, I just finished Assassin (really good story) and now I'm starting Raiders. I didn't find anything about the double standard, though Miss October. In fact, it seems that John Norman (Tarl Cabot) really wants to reconcile the two available roles for women, free and slave. For example, after a slave is freed, she wears robes of concealment but with a much shorter skirt than is normal for a free woman and Tarl hopes she will set a trend. Somehow, I can't help but feel that, whatever he says, John Norman doesn't really accept slavery as a natural thing at all. He makes it look pretty awful much of the time with the exception that female slaves are generally more responsive sexually. But then they can't pick their master and they can be separated from the man they love.
