heheh, i know that, been a gothard fan. I just wanted to know if anybody had seen it, what they knew about gothards performance and even if cheris lemmon was any good, only solid thing i have heard of this film, is that its meant to be rubbish, but still id like to make up my own mind, if i cud get hold of it

Hi again,
I bought this about 2 years again & watched it once. Really I should view it again but my video has gone belly up.
Perhaps that I only watched it once should tell you. It was painful to watch. I wonder how 3 actors like Simmons, Lemmon & Gothard got involved with it. A bad director, actors of their experience, should have been able to overcome, I can only think the basic script was rubbish. Disjointed, incoherant and certainly not the mad-cap adventure it says on the box. Almost surreal in it's bizzareness. But none of the attention grabbing surrealism of The Devils.
The only scene I partiularly remember, is of Gothard doing his fast car driving thing, ( Screamer and Stopover ), they start singing in the back and he starts too!!!.
I can't say his performance was bad, just he had nothing to work with, none of them did.
I don't think Gothard had a particularly large amount of time in the film, purely a personal view but I don't think he was particularly comfortable with it, compared with say the latter episodes of Arthur or La Vallee which he seems to fit.
I collect Gothard films, if I had to lose one -which I wouldn't like - it would be this one.
Try Amazon zshops or eBay, there are still copies about, but there are FAR better Gothard films.

This film has never been on DVD, but its readily available on VHS.

Honestly I hated it. I bought a copy based solely on the fact that I am a fan of Chris Lemmon and Lea Thompson. I had wondered why I had never heard of it and now I know why. If you want to see it, get it used for a buck.

Sorry I smell like frosting.
I want to go to there.

A buck is exactly what I paid for it on VHS, but I rather liked it.

The plot is a bit of a mess and the direction is rather haphazard, but I thought Chris Lemmon and Lea Thompson worked well together, and it's always a treat to see Jean Simmons. Any film that can maintain my attention for 89 minutes is worthwhile. It's not a great movie, but an entertaining one in my opinion. 6/10 stars from me.
