Did the movie orginally air on TV in 1984/85?

I recently got this movie on VHS. I thought the movied aired on national tv back in 1984 or 1985. It didn't air on "lifetime" until 1989.

Well, perhaps, I'll roll the credits later on and look for the date.

Never the less, truly a sad movie... Homelessness was a big issue back in the 80's... today, it is amazing how people take advantage of the system with SSI checks (Crazy Checks) for their kids and Foster Care checks... truly sad...

No this was an original Lifetime production shown on that network. The copyright date is 1989. However it has been repeated on Lifetime a couple of times over the years.

Well, I watched the credits roll, and at the end of em, there are two dates in Roman Numerals... one is 1989 and the other is 1983. I swear this movie aired on National Broadcast channels back in 84.

the movie could not have been aired in 83 as I was not born then and, I would know because I was in it. LOL :D i hope that answers your question...although it's been almost a year since you inquired about it. Take care

reply

I'm not sure about the year but this was on a regular broadcast network backinthe 80's,I am sure because we didn't have cable soI couldn't have seen it on lifetime!

Yet another year since the last message on this thread... however, I agree with tgs333 that this movie aired prior to 1988. It was definitely on ABC, and I'm guessing in the 1984-86 range. I'm certain it was not originally aired on cable (though I agree, it was a Lifetime staple later on) because I can picture the exact room & television I first watched it on... not cable-ready.

Mare Winningham's performance in this TV-movie was excellent, and the final scene of her on the swing in the playground is indelibly frozen in my mind.

I watched this on UK tv and it said 1988.
