Wow, I'd forgotten that this was based on a true story!

I saw this film many many years ago, and scenes of it are burned into my brain. And oddly I often think of them, especially when I am feeling sorry for myself. While Theresa didn't make every decision wisely, she did try very hard and the film is heartbreaking.
I had forgotten it was based on a true story. That makes it 10 times more heartbreaking, easily.

Does her daughter still speak publicly? Is her real name Hillary Johnson? I'd love to see her speak online, if its available. She must be one brave young woman.

Anyone know?

I wonder what became of Theresa, that's so incredibly sad.

It isn't based on a true story.

And you know this how?

Because I googled and every single description of the movie I saw beginning with imdb itself, including Wikipedia and Amazon and ending with The New York Times, described the film as a drama, not a biographical depiction, a true story, or a docudrama. The movie isn't a true story.

Yep Not all Lifetime movies are based on true stories. A lot are but not all of them and this one wasn't.
