how much was known about AIDS?

Didn't they know it could only be transmitted 4 ways? That woman worked in a hospital with a ton of other doctors who had been treating Ben for months. How could she think AIDS was a contagious disease? In the movie, they spoke about AIDS like they knew nothing about it, but the doctors had to know at least the basics. How come everyone still seemed so ignorant about it?

Did the family ever find out how exactly Ben got the virus? Did they sue the responsible party? How many kids died this way? It's all so sad.

They knew it could be transmitted 4ways but back then it was still the early
years of AIDS so they wasn't really for sure. Ben was the first boy that hospital had ever seen with AIDS. People was ignorant about AIDS in the early years even Doctors. People was really scared of AIDS then still are even after all these years.

Ben's family probably accepted that his Factor gave him AIDS which it probably did. I've never heard of any other way he could of gotten it.

They probably tried to sue the responsible party but with Factor products it's really hard since Factor comes from a whole bunch of people.

Many kids did get AIDS this away. One for example Ryan White he too got AIDS the same way Ben did. He was kicked out of school as well for having AIDS he took the school to court and won. He also wrote a book called Ryan White: My Own Story. Also there's a movie The Ryan White Story.
