I assume they were some kind of background research done prior to the trip (well, duh, he obviously came there with them) to be used as arsenal to aid in her mental breakdown. It was established that the entire goal of the trip was to drive her insane, so my guess is he would eventually either bring up the subject of Jason during their sessions at some point and hope she latched onto it and began to hallucinate things, or he planned to leave the news clippings out where she could wander by and see them, letting her natural curiosity take care of the rest. He could say he didn't know where they came from. The parallels between Jason drowning in the lake and her dad's death could trigger something in her psyche, or so he probably hoped.

I can't remember, but did any of these newspaper stories have a picture of Jason standing there in his hockey mask, like part 5 did? I'd love to know how someone got that pic!
