Never saw the point of the sex scene in the hallway of the apartment building, when walker emerges from dede's flat.

I think it's just to highlight Walker's leaving the safe, family vacation version of Paris with his wife and his entrance into this decadent Parisian underworld where he has to search for her.

(that, and Polanski is one of the great perv directors of all time and just liked some random muff-diving in there).

plus it was also a plot device to make him stay in the flat...and then hear the answer machine. if the couple werent there he would of left without the vital clues from the tape..

I believe Harrison Ford also hides there as he waits for the girl to go to Dede's apt.
