Disappointed in Ford
I love Harrison Ford but it always disappointed me that he was in a Polanski film. Especially a Polanski film made well after his child rape conviction.
It’s hard to process how one feels about Polanski. Raping a 13-year old inspires disgust, his mother being murdered by Nazis and his pregnant wife murdered by the Manson cult inspires pity, and his filmmaking prowess inspires awe.
Disgust, pity, awe. Is there any other public figure who commands these emotions? A scarred and twisted genius.
I can see why Ford, or any actor, would want to star in a Polanski project, but I can see why you might object. Let’s not forget that Hollyweird is a den of iniquity full of damaged souls that spits out dreams, and we fund the whole machine.
