Yep he sure did, but given the choice between giving John Cleese and Kevin Kline an oscar, i would pick John Cleese. He is so great at (acting) hating americans, and this is shown brilliantly in Fawlty Towers and Fierce Creatures too.

Both Palin And Kline Deserved Oscars!
And Curtis Was a golden globe worthy for comedy
Overall **** star film! I was on the ground when he was eating the fish
Cleese wrote a brilliant screenplay!

This movie is definately my favorite movie of all time due to the abosolutely hilarious script and it's execution by the actors. John Cleese is a genious. I can watch him in Fawlty Towers any time. It is, however, Kevin that I think deserved the award. He filled a role that I don't think many could have. The perfect (dare I say it?) idiot.

And the "italian" that he spoke... too funny

It's a matter of life after death. Now that he's dead I have a life.

While all those scenes barely span 15% of the film, I've yet to understand why you protest what goes on in a film (especially since most of the stuff is made-up, anyway).
I remember same kind of stuff happening when "O Brother Where Art Thou" came out - many boycotted the film because a fake cow got riddled with bullets (all this was 3 seconds out of the entire movie).

Kevin deserved the Oscar as much as whoever created the character of Otto did.
Brilliant stuff.

Firstly, "don't call me stupid" is a quote from the movie, and

Secondly, you're taking this waaaaaaay too seriously.

I second that, velma. Or what about the time Cleese is breaks into his own house? Or when Palin drops a piano on that womans dog? Or Kline yelled
@$$h01£!!!

Thought you might try escaping...so I just took the liberty of removing your horse's brain

eddy i suggest if you didnt like the film not going on the message bored and making it so clear that you disliked the film and not expect to get reactions from people who enjoyed it

I love Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Palin, and John Cleese. I think that Kevin deserved his award, but I do think that Palin should have been nominated.

you annoy the piss out of me ::pees with

very true. mike was awesome lol.

Kevin got the oscar for best supporting actor

They are all good, and the oscar rarely goes to an actor in a comedy. Kline was brilliant here, but it's also possible that voters chose him in part because of his many other brilliant performances (Sophie's Choice comes to mind-- of course it was Meryl Streep's movie, but Kline was perfect to act with her! Not too many men could have held their own opposite her in that film!)and then he goes on and shows his range in this brilliant comedy!

reply

I deeply agree.

My god, Cleese was hilarious..

Just what are you doing here?
I might ask you the same question!

The intellect of few disguises the stupidity of many.

couldn't agree more!

kevin kline was brilliant.

Ya, but come on Jamie Lee defiently deserved an Oscar nomination too. She showed everyone in this movie that she could be taken as a serious actor, not just some "Scream Queen," or comedy jokester. Her character was pretty much what the movie was based around. If she could get nominated for a Globe and BAFTA for this, why not throw her in supporting actress at the Oscars. It worked for Kline, should have worked for her. Great acting. But anyway out of everything Kevin deserved the Oscar the most.

Let's Go True Lies 2!
