Question about the ENDING (HEAVY SPOILERS ALERT).

SPOILERS ALERT, READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE FILM, UNLESS you don't mind spoilers for films too much -

So at the end, when that private eye and the model get locked in a cell, and the phone call gets heard on the answering machine of the big rich man that filed for missing persons report and got the Private Eye to help find his daughter, and the credits roll and that George Michael-esque pop ballad "Destination Nowhere..." starts playing...

Are we to assume those surgical face ripping bad guys and bad people just GET AWAY with it and that ultimately, the Private Eye and the model just get trapped, operated on and possibly killed and the whole organization just continues to operate and not get apprehended by police, SWAT teams etc, so the bad guys ultimately just get away with it, right?

no, the phone call is Telly Savalas getting his assistant to book him the next plane ride to Paris so he can rescue his daughter...if it's not too late (since it's past the New Year and Chris Mitchum left the message on the machine before Christmas)

I came here to see if anyone was discussing this ending. My first thought was that Franco was setting up a second film.

franco was just shooting footage until the production accountant told him the money ran out
