Which scene was it? This movie was a riot! Was it the scene where the nazi doctor is cutting the face off, or was it the syringe through the wheelchair bound patient's eyeball?

reply

This movie was repulsive and strangely poetic. Helmut B. and Brigitte Lahaie make a handsome duo. And Chris Mitchum rocked.

Repulsive is a positive comment for Franco films. It's intended to be repulsive, in meaning that you are repelled by the subject matter and/or presentation, and you are right that it is also poetic. I find this dichotomy to make this film one of Franco's best efforts.

Repulsive yes, but not disgusting. That's a term I'd save for the wholly manipulative series of Saw films, all without redeeming qualities.

Gary Cagle in his treatise "On Day Dreamers and the Disgust of Miscreants" says this film was strong, but not for the right reasons.

It's one of Franco's better films, definitely.

"Hey, look at that! She's not crazy, she's being chased by a cheetah!"

I think it's a very entertaining Franco film.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!
