Weirdest moment (in a bad way)

Did anyone else find it a little disturbing the way that Ernest causes multiple crashes on the road with his reckless driving, then turns around, sees the destruction, and *laughs* smugly? That scene has always caused me confusion. I mean, Ernest is otherwise a likable hero... so what the heck is up with his cackling when he's possibly killed some people?

Tell you the truth I always thought so too. But is is so obviously staged that it's laughable.

Well he's not laughing that he did that. He was just such an oblivious character he blamed the crashed on BAD drivers but not counting himself in that category. Ernest always kind of had that false bravado even in the original film when he talked himself up to be such a big tough guy until he gets decked by the construction foreman. This was just another odd facet of his characters personality. He was just oblivious to the ramnifications of his own actions. This is similar to the scene when he is "helping Vern". But that has always been a part of the character not realizing that. If you've seen some of the older Ernest/Vern commercials and skits.

Hahaha this was hilarious, I haven't seen the movie in ages but I recall this scene. So funny that you are somewhat disturbed by his reaction to causing other cars to crash. He's Ernest P. Worrell - thrill driver! HE CAN DO WHAT HE WANTS! hahaha.

Ruffle, ruffle feathers. You said Russell feathers.

santa looks like keenan wynn, it was also strange how long they kept him out of picture when ernest was saving the christmas tree on the highway. for a large part looked like santa had the main role rather than ernest. favorite part was ernest in the pickup truck delivering snakes to a horror movie. this may sound crazy to say about an ernest movie i know critics fiercely diss them, and its hardly an annual christmas airing except perhaps in redneck households but it really feels like some original passionate moviemaking and not just an excuse to make a mainstream santa pic made to every point.

cold as ice,
with your fingers like an ice pick crumble me down,
im leavin now,
youre stiff and hostile,
cant mould anything with what youve got,
as i find my soul run for salvation at foreign soil,
where somehow feel more at home,
youre good lookin as can be,
with only a shell starvin me,
in the cold place you shut the steam heat off,
uncomfortable in your company getting bad vibes,
trapped in the land serving as cautionary example for everyone,
cold as ice.
