I Loved This Movie

I thought that Dominick And Eugene was a great movie. It was a small story told brilliantly.

I wholeheartedly agree! Tom Hulce won a best actor award from the 1988 Seattle International Film Festival for this role. I heard that there was a standing ovation at the end of that showing.

This movie has stayed in my heart and psyche since my first viewing in the theater many years ago. So it was with anticipation that I watched again. I had prepared myself to find it dated in some way, or that I'd be in a different frame of mind all these years later. Much to my delight, I am still moved by this movie especially, and again, by the compelling performances of Tom Hulce and Ray Liotta, individually and as a team. Both made me believe they had personally experienced their respective roles. I watched this when I was much younger feeling so much for Eugene's dilemma in being sincerely dedicated to his brother yet having the wisdom and passion to know that his vocation had to be carried out. Tom Hulce as Dominic is brilliant. To watch "that scene" and not be sobbing would take the Queen's stoicism. If any people involved in this movie ever read these comments, please know that I am appreciative. Of the thousands of movies I suspect I've seen over the past few decades, this (including the performances) remains the most poignant.

What ever became of the boy in it? Doesn't he act anymore?
