Aged terribly. One long joke impersonating disabled people!

Steve Martin plays a conman impersonating both a mentally handicapped man and then someone in a wheelchair.

How is that funny?

They couldn't make this today. Surprised it passed as humour in the 80s, I thought things were a little more sophisticated.

reply

It's not a question of aging - it was pretty awful at the time.

reply

It's a remake of the 1964 movie Bedroom Story, so definitely dated and insensitive comedy.

reply

Yep. Very long time since I've seen the original which I remember as a better film but I didn't particularly like that one either.

reply

Grow a spine you pussy.

reply

this film is great

reply

It also is not very rewatchable as the twist ending, once remembered, detracts from the movie.

reply

I like this film but that is true.

reply

So, by your statement, any movie with a twist ending is probably not rewatchable as the memory of the twist detracts from the re-watch?

reply

Do the rest of us a favour. If you find yourself getting offended by anything in the future, kindly switch off, curl in to a little ball in a dark place and shut the fuck up. You absolute fanny. You are all that is wrong in the world. I know you are going to be offended by this and I couldn't give a flying fuck.

I love this film btw. Especially the bits about retards.

👏🏻

The movie is fantastic, holds up great. Just watched it yesterday after not having seen it in years. Still as funny as ever.

reply

This is a perfect example of why we don't have theatrical comedies anymore.

reply

This movie is funny, especially Martin's impersonating a retard and a cripple. Go to your safe space and play with your crayons. And fuck off. Is that offensive? Good, because that was the intent.
