I constantly see this movie on the front page almost every day ...

what the heck is there to talk about this old, cliche, and just a simple action movie any more ... it's over 30 years old, and though it has a place in the culture with the yippee-kay-yea trope, it's not a classic by any means. Do trolls get paid to keep this in the forefront of people's minds or is there actually still things to say about this B movie?

reply

It would only be your opinion that it is not a classic. Many think it is. It being continually in the the public memory is an indication that it is a classic.

reply

> It would only be your opinion that it is not a classic.

True ... what the f else would it be? Master of the blooming' obvious you are mate.

Talking about it like it is a classic is a marketing move. A lot of the people who push this to top again and again work for the studios to get views and clicks. Understand the world as it is and has become now.

Its medication time... its medication time...

It's time for you to find another stupid response when someone has humiliated you online. Sorry, but someone has to do it! ;-)

reply

You are the one who asserted it is "not a classic by any means." I see that as a fairly strong statement, often used by those attempting to assert their opinion is objectively true.

reply

If the movie "Die Hard" was any kind of classic,
it could not be "A Classic",
it could only be called a "Cult Classic",
where "Cult Classic" is to "A Classic" as Infamous is to Famous..

reply

Die Hard does not qualify as a cult classic. Generally a cult classic is a film (or other work) which did not perform well at the time of its release but has become popular since, sometimes among a select audience though that is not required.

Die Hard has been successful since its release. It remains popular today.

And I reject your ridiculous premise assertion as to the relation of a cult classic to a classic. Cult classics are not infamous by any stretch.

Perhaps you can enlighten us with your definition of a classic.

reply

I BET HE SAYS OLD MOVIES...CAUSE THEY DONT MAKE GOOD MOVIES SINCE THE 70S...HE SEEMS THE TYPE.😣

reply

A jerk all the around and to the end ... look in the dictionary you dolt. If you don't know the definition of a classic why are you arguing like a lunatic? Did I hurt your little feelings saying your favorite action hero's movie is not as a great as you think it is? Can't take it. Have to strike back?

Oh, you always do that because you don't know how to discuss anything without being clueless, like somehow explaining to me what my opinion about this movie is my opinion. You have nothing to say, and probably nothing to do, so you needlessly get offended or offend others. Get lost.

reply

Hardly hurt my feelings. Dictionaries are poor resources to define a very individualist concept.

For example on this issue: I did an impromptu poll among 30 of my friends and acquaintances. All thought Die Hard was a classic. Why? Because it was a high impact popular film, still very popular after 30 years which is seen as establishing many of the common tropes and traditions of action films since then, and having done them well.

So, it seems incumbent to define terms. Again I ask you, how do you define a classic?

reply

Die Hard is unquestionably a classic, cinematic masterpiece. It's widely considered to be one of the best action films of all time, and many rank it #1 on such a list; most would say it transcends the genre in much the same way that the best superhero films, westerns, horror films, and so forth do, and is not just a great action film, but a great film period.

That you dislike it is your own business, and no film is universally beloved, but to claim it's at best a cult classic is purposeful ignorance on your part.

reply

YOU SAY SILLY SHIT...EVERYONE KNOWS DIE HARD IS A CLASSIC.🙂

reply

Considering I am now 40 years old, love action flicks and never even watched this movie until last year finally, I completely agree. I don't have nostalgia to hold onto with this film and it was mediocre for me. Don't regret watching it, but won't watch it again either.

reply

Exactly, it was fine for what it was, but anyone calling it a classic is way over-selling it. To me, it is and was mostly a time-waster, like most TV/Movies.

reply

Well, you're in the right place to waste your time then.

reply

God, I hate to see what action flicks you actually love.

reply

Like I said, a lot of them. Currently John Wick, Edge of Tomorrow, Bond movies, Mission Impossible, Point Break (original), Predator, Lethal Weapon and list goes on and on. I enjoy Live Free or Die Hard more than the original. Shame on me.

reply

Depending on which Bond movies you prefer, it sounds like you enjoy very stylized action films.

Live Free or Die Hard is an excellent action movie, and a great followup/tribute/sequel to the original trilogy. But it's also substantively a different type of movie.

I don't think it's fair for you to imply that nostalgia is what binds people to this film. It's just not your type of action movie. I think OP is insane to even ask the following

what the heck is there to talk about this old, cliche, and just a simple action movie any more

I love horror movies, but I have no interest in the saw films myself. It doesn't mean I'm going to find it so bizarre that other people enjoy it and have a lot to talk about it.

reply

Fair enough on the nostalgia comment. Also, in all fairness, maybe it was based on my mood that day too. It also could of been the hype of the movie going in and it left me wanting more.

reply

This movie is awesome.

What are some of the movies you like or do you just piss and moan about them?

reply

wtf are you talking about this movie is a total classic. i remember playing ps1 videogames about this movie as a kiddo in the early 2000s long before even ever seeing it. watch it multiple times and enjoyed it every time. not only is this a classic action movie. it is a classic Christmas movie as well. most fun film to put on during xmas season

reply

I think Die Hard is a classic. At least to me it is.

You don't think it's a classic. Your choice. Your feelings about the movie.

Live and let live my friend 😊

reply

You mention cliché but I wonder if that's due to other films copying it or doing similar stuff. Similar to how the original Halloween may seem like the stereotypical slasher when watching now but it was one of the originals.

To me it's a great action film with some good actors. It's simple but that works. It's a popcorn film and entertaining
