This classic set the template for all similar action movies. One of the features is doomed rescue mission by the Swat team or Navy Seals. In all of these films like Die Hard, Die Hard 2, The Rock, Under Siege, Speed and Olympus has fallen, we see variations of the same thing. The terrorists or bad guys are one step ahead of the rescuers. They usually have an ambush or booby trap ready and waiting. The lone hero tries to warn them, and is ignored which seals their fate. The hero has to then step up to the plate.

It's a trope that I know has to elevate the Hero which is fine, but it's always the incompetent Leader that jeopardizes the mission and annoys me. Sgt. Powell is the only person who listens. Deputy Dwayne nor the Special agents don't give him or "Roy" any kind of leeway. The first squad lives but Ramming squad get killed.
