This IS a Christmas Movie.

New York City policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve. He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages -- but him.

I look at Die Hard as a Christmas movie for the action movie fan. It's a real world 1980s experience about the John McClane character. All he wanted to do was take a chance at spending the holidays with his family after accidentally getting invited to that party, but then that accident turns out to be a blessing in disguise for all the hostages involved in what happened during that day.

Without McClane those people probably wouldn't have gotten to get back home to spend the holidays with their families and carry on living their lives. I'd say that's a hell of a priceless gift.

Well maybe it is a Christmas movie for some. But though I do like it, I would rather watch A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street and A Christmas Story than Die Hard at Christmas.

reply

Cool. I like the Santa Clause movies as well along with watching the Grinch (Jim Carrey), Die Hard, Home Alone 1 and 2, Elf and maybe a Christmas movie on Netflix if it grabs my attention from time to time during the holiday season.
