Like Michael Keaton, Bruce Wills pre-Die Hard was more known as a comedic actor (Moonlighting, Blind Date, and the Seagrams commercials) than an action hero. And like Michael Keaton playing Batman about a year later, at the time, the idea of casting Bruce Willis (who was more of a blue collar Joe instead of a muscle bound superman/one man army like the Stallones and Arnolds of the world) as this leading man hero was a major gamble at the time.
