dirty harry finds love!

I just watched the dead pool again and I just noticed how Samantha the reporter has a serious thing for Harry. She asks him out on a date, and in one scene near the start she looks at him from a distance with a longing look in her eyes. I wonder if they got it on later. what do other people think?

Love? Harry is kinda like Bond. a different chick in every movie.. kinda.. in the original I am guessing his wife just left... but the second he slept with the hot asian chick downstairs.. not quire sure if they got around to it in the movie. in the third (The Enforcer) he may have gotten together with Cagney.. in the 4th Sondra Locke.. in the 5th the reporter... Love? Nah.. But Harry did always score with some nice lookin chicks.. kinda eerie that Clarkson does have a passing resemblance to Locke.. who was in at least.. 5 Clint flicks? Impact, two ape flicks, The Gauntlet and Brono Billy (just off the top of my head).

Harry's rather the opposite of Bond: in five films, he sleeps with two women, one time each (Magnum Force and Sudden Impact). Bond would have done that it twenty minutes.

By the way, Locke appeared in six Eastwood films (don't forget The Outlaw Josey Wales).

Also, Harry's wife died prior to the original movie's story.

Yeah,Harry's wife died.But I do think they continued a serious relationship later on because he somehow spent a real lot of time with her,and it's the last Dirty Harry,so why not?I think that's one of the main reasons they have made The Dead Pool...they had to make Harry happy. :)

Harry's wife didn't die, she left him (revealed in the first film).

In A View to a Kill (John Glen, 1985), James Bond spends the night at a girl's house but they don't have sex (at that point). In the The Deal Pool, Harry may have just remained with Samantha overnight to protect and comfort her after the elevator attack.

It's implied pretty heavily. With the mob and perhaps some "dead poolers" after him, Quan tells Harry, in front of the police station, not to go home that night. Quan even tells Harry that he can stay over at his place. Then Samantha drives up, Harry tells Quan, "Thanks, but I think I can do a little better," and he goes off with her. Quan rhetorically asks himself, "The price of fame?"

Then, in what seems like the next morning, Quan picks Harry up from in front of Samantha's place and jokes, "It must have been an in-depth interview."

the fact that we don't see any physical relationship between these two......yet we still feel the obvious romantic tension shows their relationship is something deeper than say harry's relationship with sunny in "magnum force" where it is purely physical.

because of this, i think harry's relationship with samantha has the potential of perhaps becoming something serious. it's obviously the last dirty harry film.....harry is getting older in life, maybe he's ready to settle down and walk away from his career.

It's a much more conventional romance than what we see in Magnum Force or Sudden Impact. I agree that with Harry nearing retirement, he's probably softened and willing to be less of a loner.

i thought the aspects of harry and samantha's relationship was entertaining. samantha, being the pushy journalist who'll cross the line to get her story first......and harry, who hates the media circus and even throws the camera from samantha's TV crew.

later on we see samantha willing to do what's morally right, rather than crossing the line to get the big story first......as she refuses to show the man who wants to set himself on fire on TV. harry gives a surprised, purplexed look.

Yeah, that's what they call an "arc."

i also found the scene where harry gets caught looking at samantha's leg comical. patricia clarkson was very attractive and arguably the most charming female character in the dirty harry series.

True, she is the most charming woman in the series.

True, and actually, Harry doesn't stay over on the night of the elevator attack, so I was a bit misleading earlier.
