Don't know if this can help but I've got THE DAWNING on DVD (bought it in Canada a couple of years ago) and it's the Full Screen Version.

It's one of my fave films ever!!! I love love love the story, the setting (Dublin in the 1920s) and the costumes. The actors are also brilliant! I also read the novel by Jennifer Johnston and that's also great!!

I really don't know what to say that hasn't been said yet on IMDB.
It's easy to recognise some of the locations where it was filmed. One of them was BEWLEY'S CAFE' in Fleet Street, Dublin (the scene where Nancy meets Joe Mulhare) which is now closed. I often used to go for a cuppa coffee in that same room! I would really like to know WHERE Nancy's house is! I adore taht place.. can you ask your relative please??? :))
THE DAWNING is such a brilliant film. Everything's perfect about it..actors, costumes, locations, the story.. It's probably my fave film!
