The Frightening Face Of David Rothenberg

Does anyone else feel that David Rothenberg is shown in the movie has to be one of the most disturbingly disfigured characters ever? I used to have nightmares after watching this movie, and when I found a copy of the book it was worse! I feel so bad for him, in the pictures he barely has a nose, lips, his ears are gone, his skin looks scarred and almost melted. The recovery must have been so painful. Do we know if he was conscience when they found him in the motel room? Just think about it: His dad gives him a sleeping pill and then the boy wakes up on fire!

I agree. When Davids father is watching t.v. and watching the news which shows the aftermath of his actions and he is quietly smiling to himself is the most disturbing of all. He himself is what is disturbing.

Same here. He doesn't bother me at all either. His Father is the only disturbing thing. I totally agree about Charles Rothenberg's mugshot Bwoods3.

There's no way david could have been concious. The sleeping pill should have knocked him out but the smoke inhalation and/or pain would have knocked him out even if he were wide awake at the time.

It would have been a very strange experience for him though, he went to bed excited for disneyland, woke up unable to move or see but still being able to hear

I believe that there is a mild, muffled scream heard in the background during the explosion scene. It sounded like a child's voice doing it too, so it very well could've been David himself that was screaming.

I'm so scared your little head will come off in my hands!

I've since found out that David did in fact wake up in the hotel room. Eye witnesses heard him screaming

I could've sworn I heard him scream, "Ahhhhh HELP"!!
