Is it just me or do they make the most memorable onscreen couple in this movie?
I loved how their characters interacted throughout the movie. I thought it was so sweet how Chris Young's character was so protective of Alyssa Milano's in the theatre.
No...it's not just you. I watch the movie only to see Chris Young and Alyssa.
It is the best story line of the whole movie.
I agree, the best story lines are where the geek gets the cute girl. i watch this movie like once or twice a year and my wife thinks I am weird for liking it so much.

And I think Dan was protective and a perfect gentleman with Shelly not only in the theatre, but through the whole night. Remember his attitudes in the restaurant or in the "Space Mountain"?

I agree -- they had some interesting chemistry that, strangely, felt honest and sweet.
I especially loved how, at first, Alyssa's character was so embarrassed to be seen with him. The next morning when he offered to drop her off at the end of her street so nobody would see her get out of his car -- that look she gave him, then, a few minutes later, she walks into the diner with him like she's the luckiest girl in the world to have him on her arm. Just awesome!
Milano revealed this in an 1989 old "THE BIG BOPPER" magazine, that "we dated a little".
