Remake of which movie?

I have read somewhere that this movie is a remake of a 40s' classic probably directed by Rudolf Mathe. Does anyone know which was the original old film?

The 1950 D.O.A. starring Edmund O'Brien is a truly all-time great and I definitely recommend it. I rented it through Netflix, but I imagine any rental outfit that has a good classic collection will have it.

I haven't seen this remake yet but will as soon as this afternoon, and I'll let you know what I think of it in comparison to the original.

I killed him for money and for a woman. I didn't get the money... and I didn't get the woman.

Both are great films for their respective times. Apart from the poisoning theme and the title both films are entirely different in their plots and so I don't really compare the two.

I've seen both in the past two weeks and like both of them but I prefer this one.

The 1950 version is much better although this one does work well in its own right.

I didn't knew this was a remake!
I'm going to check the original!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

The original is great, but slightly dated. As a remake this one works very well. A truly outstanding performance by Dennis Quaid. Who, by the way, looks just like Edmund O'brien from the original.

The original is the best, this just a crap update which takes forever to get going.
