What happened to Sydney?
I went to the store, and didn't make it back until the Daniel Stern end scene. What happened to Sydney (meg Ryan's character) last thing i knew they were connected my the hand.

Actually no... Dex left Sydney sleeping on his couch in his office, after slipping a note under her arm - presumably explaining why he was leaving without waking her, or maybe thanking her for the romp - who knows?
Anyway, she never left him because she knew he was dying - her character development never lead you to believe she was like that. Quaid's character was pragmatic about what his fate was going to be however, and was not inclined for her to be put through the mill of watching him die.
Apart from the weak motive for poisoning Dex, the plot weakness that struck me was earlier in the film when Sydney is partying happily just hours having been glued to a dying man and chased by a villain shooting a nail gun at her - enough to shake up anyone.
She was the only likeable character in the film.

actually we do see the note, it thanked her for being "the one bit of light in an ever darkening dream"
