French? I'd like to know the exchange between Anton Maes and the waiter when Izzy shows up at the resturant to meet him (after he mistakes her for his wife on the phone). It must be something like:
"You weren't expecting this woman, were you?"
"No, but she'll do"
It probably is not anything he'd want Izzy to be able to understand.
You just have to be resigned- You're crashing by design
I speak French, and although I can't remember verbatim what was said, the gist is that the waiter was concerned that Anton's wife, who they thought was expected, would show up, and Anton says something to the effect of "no, no, she's not coming, everything's fine." (I'd have to watch the film again to be sure of the exact words - it's been a while - but I know it wasn't insulting).
Having seen it again, I'm still wondering. Maes has the words with the waiter after the mistake is established. Unless the waiter doesn't understand English either. Oh well.

My French is rusty and I always blank out on the exact wording, but what I thought is that the waiter referred to votre femme, i.e., "your wife," and Anton says something like C'est une femme, i.e., "It's a woman."
First rule of movie-going: never confuse the actor with his role.
