is it good?

absolutely not the type of movie i enjoy, and i love this movie.i have to have seen it at least ten times. could be because I am a native Manhattanite (1950-2000). Also, the music helps the movie, and the acting is great. Amy Irving looks lovely, but you can tell she is wearing a lot of makeup. her 'bubbie' is fantastic.

The movie is very "New York" if you get my meaning; it's from the last generation of movies that captured the real New York before the city became a giant hipster shopping mall so, it's nice to watch for that reason alone.

It's a wonderful film. I wish they made more of them like this. I've just finished watching it on DVD. It's been maybe 25 years since nybkast viewing and It holds up very nicely. A fine script and directed with flair and imagination by Joan Micklin Silver.
