Interview with Liane Curtis aka Megan from Critters 2

You may know her as the Girlfriend from Hell but before that she was fighting hungry furry aliens in Critters 2: The Main Course. The person I’m talking about is the lovely Liane Curtis.





CritterRehatched would like to thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience’s working on the film Critters 2 were you played Megan Morgan.



CrittersRehatched- Could you tell us how you first got involved with the Critters 2?

Liane Curtis-- I went through an audition process. I think I went in about 3x total ... Went in for the casting director then for the director then for the director and producers ... then I waited and got a call. "Do you know how to drive a stick shift?" I said: "Ya, I do." Apparently that's what got me the role... Cheryl Pollack did NOT drive a stick.



CrittersRehatched--How long did they keep you on set for filming?

Liane Curtis-- I think it was a 6 week shoot and I worked a lot of the time.



CrittersRehatched--What was it like working with the Critter puppets and animatronics?

Liane Curtis-- The Critters and I didn't have TOO much interaction but it was kind of cool. The Chiodo Brothers (the ones who made the critters) are awesome.



CrittersRehatched-- Was there ever any problems on set with other crew or did everything go pretty smooth?

Liane Curtis-- Well ... I was a little uppity in that I chose to put clothes pins all up and down an agent's suit. The agent was from APA and they were looking @ Mick (our director) as a client. Not sure he signed with THAT agency ... sorry Mick!



CrittersRehatched-- Do you remember filming any scenes that didn’t make it to the final version of the film?

Liane Curtis-- Hmmm ... no I actually don't. Other films yes but not C2. It's been a long time, however!!



CrittersRehatched-- Did you get to keep any of the props from set?

Liane Curtis-- No I did not. I got a pair of woolen socks with Critters 2 embroidered on one of the socks. I think I still have them, too!!!



CrittersRehatched--What is your biggest memory about working on Critters 2?

Liane Curtis-- I fell asleep standing up during the scene where the sheriff comes into the church and shoots his gun to get the attn of the townsfolk. We had switched from days to nights and that always messes with my body's schedule.



CrittersRehatched--Were you ever offered to return for any of the other sequels, critters 3 or Critters 4?

Liane Curtis—No =( but I was SUCH an a-hole back then ... not surprising I was not invited back ...♥



CrittersRehatched-- Have you seen all 4 Critters films and what your thoughts on them?

Liane Curtis-- I have only seen 1 and 2 and I liked them both. One of these days maybe I will get around to 3 and 4. Love Donnie Opper!!!!



CrittersRehatched--Would you ever be interested in doing another Critters film?

Liane Curtis-- I am an actor so YES is the usual answer to: "Do you want to work? ... lol



CrittersRehatched--What was it like working with the giant critter ball?

Liane Curtis-- I had to yell a lot and drive with it following closely. It was fun and I definitely needed to keep my wits about me while driving next to it.



CrittersRehatched--I heard a rumor that one of the Chiodo Bros was almost injured during the Giant Critter ball scene; do you know anything about that?

Liane Curtis-- Wow ... I don't remember but I could find out AND I know the Chiodo's are a friendly bunch. I bet you could call them up or email them and they would be happy to answer. What a crazy thing not to remember ... sorry!!!



CrittersRehatched--What were your initial thoughts of the film after your first viewing?

Liane Curtis -- I thought that Barry Corbin stood out as the sheriff. He played it very straight which kept the humor. I liked it. Others must have as well because there was a 3 and a 4 ... hahah.



CrittersRehatched--Do you have any other memories you would like to share with us about your experience working on Critters 2?

Liane Curtis-- I remember that when I was practicing in the brown truck we would go on trails above where they had built the town and I would go up and drive on down time with Chris the medic/driver. There were these really creepy abandoned barrack and the vibe in them was SO BIZARRE. I THINK at one time the place was used by fire dept. as a place they would stage fake rescues and before that I would imagine it being a place for unwanted crazies or something. A place where you keep people away from society ... It COULD be my imagination about the previous uses of these abandoned buildings but I am SURE they were CREEPY from the get go whatever they were used for!!!!
