One thing I love about this movie...

...is the vision of African royalty and all its opulence. You just don't see that much in the cinema (or anywhere else) and for the late 80's, it was something to behold.

I love the opening shots of the kingdom and seeing how Prince Akeem lived. Also the scene where he is to meet his bride; the costumes, the dance, the colors, its just beautiful!

I especially love the costumes and how the king wore an actual lion skin over his coat. Its was just a great vision of what African royal kingdom could be.
