Unmarked Chevy Impala
Trying to figure out the year of Hodges brown Chevy Impala that McGavin crashes at the Watts Towers? Appears to be around an '84 or '85. Any Chevy guys out there who can answer the question?

It was probably a 1987/86 9C1 Caprice. The Impala wasn't offered in a police package.

1981-1985. As far as I know there's no way to tell any of those years apart, though I can tell it appears to be a legit 9c1 police package Impala.

Sean Penn and Robert Duvall drive a burnt orange 1985 Chevy Impala F41 in the beginning of the movie. They get into a car chase with crip gang members. The LAPD follows in hot pursuit in every car in the LAPD fleet including 1982-1985 Chevy Impala F41's, 1982 Dodge Diplomat, 1979-1980 Dodge St.Regis, and 1985 Ford LTD Crown Vic. They total the burnt orange Impala and get stuck with a "lemon" a term meaning oldest car in the fleet and turns out to be a yellow beat up 1978 Plymouth Fury, which doesn't get a scratch throughout rest of the movie. At the end Sean Penn and his new partner ride in a silver 1982 Diplomat. The '85 Impala and the '78 Fury gets four stars because, they're driven a lot.share
