Then there is the "When Harry Met Sally" rip off scene when Jack and Kitty are eatting dinner.
How was it a rip-of if Cocoon: The Return (November 23, 1988) preceded When Harry Met Sally... (July 21, 1989) by eight months?
In the originl film as soon as a cocoon is opend the alien inside it has hardly any life force at all and then it dies. In this film the alien is glowing and strong for almost a week.
Walter explained that they had charged the pool water with "life force" to give the cocooned Antareans energy to survive the trip home, but Art, Ben, and Joe (and eventually the other elderly people) had sucked teh life force that was sustaining the cocoons to rejuvenate themselves.
The mom passes out at at the sight of her partents returning from the dead and then we never see her again.
Yeah, that was weird. I couldn't wait until the story got back to them 'cause I wanted to hear the grandparents explain the situation to their daughter (who had considered them dead this whole time) and see her wide-eyed astonishment as they recalled their many adventures in outer space. But then... nothing.
