Watch the scene carefully when Cobra Verde and Taparica are being carried to see the King. The King's subjects lay Cobra Verde's stretcher down and he sort of rolls off into the dust.

Then watch the way they handle Taparica - they roll him off a clear four feet above the ground and it looks as if he almost broke his neck! Such almost-accidents are not uncommon, of course, in a Herzog film, but watching how close he came to serious injury really is scary -
