On January 12th "Clara's Heart" will make it's dvd debut as part of a Whoopi Goldberg dvd 4 movie collection.

But it's better than not getting released at all.
I got it finally and I don't care if it came with 3 of her other movies, cause I wanted this on dvd for like since dvds were invented. I love this movie.

Even though there are far worse movies than Clara's Heart on DVD (Gigli, From Justin to Kelly, The hottie and the nottie, anyone?), the movie was such a critical (underrated if you ask me) and commercial disaster in 1988 that Warner Brothers did not care to market the movie on its own; I must say the DVD is pretty decent with the widescreen edition of the movie, and a crisp sounding soundtrack to appreciate Dave Grusin's lovely score.

I've always liked "Clara's Heart" for many of the same reasons that others in this thread have already mentioned. The four film DVD at Amazon, has a bargain bin price and another amazing Whoopi film with the same tone as "Clara's Heart," "Corrina, Corrina." The other two films, "Bogus," and "Made in America" are not in the same class. This DVD should have had "Clara's Heart," "Corrina, Corrina," and "The Long Walk Home," three wonderful, touching, neglected Whoopi Goldberg films. At least two of the titles are available on this DVD, and "The Long Walk Home," has Whoopi and Sissy Spacek, with both giving Oscar quality performances, is available at Amazon at an even lower bargain bin price. Two Whoopi films, "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Burgler" are guilty pleasures of mine. They are not great cinema, but are a really fun double feature when, I'm home alone, have a cold, or it's a gray rainy day.
