Loved the movie ! - Should I read the book?

On a whim, I picked this movie up at Tower Records used VHS section for a mere $2. I really enjoyed the story (even the ending!) and I am really interested in reading the book. Is the book really better than the movie?

I haven't seen the movie, but the book is awesome. Very dark, but excellent at the same time...Not for the faint of heart, but a good read.

this is one of my top 4 fave books, and top 4 fave movies.
the movie is slightly different than the book, but this is one of the few times that the movie doesn't let me down, i love it so much!

Hello. Yes you should read the book. While the movie remained faithful to the book until the end, there is much more to it than that handful of characters. Example: it shows alot of discussions between other characters about the chocolate sale. So yes, it is worth reading. Hope you enjoy.

DEFINITELY read it. It's one of my favourite books, has been since I first read it in the 7th grade (quiiiite awhile ago). The sequel to the book, if I remember clearly, was not as good... but still worth a read. Better than the movie by far.

I say yes, read the book. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I liked the book, however not so much the ending. They may have altered the ending in the movie though if you liked it. Or perhaps we just have different opinions. Enjoy! =D

The book is probably better than the film because it is more realistic about life. Also, I want to warn you that the ending in the book is different than the film so don't be surprised.
