What were the mechanics at work here

OK so it's voodoo and magic but Chucky was a doll with doll stuffing originally. So did the Voodoo replace that with muscle and bone etc because when he gets shot he bleeds and he is strong enough to pick up hammers and fire a gun. (I cant remember so far back)

I noticed burnt up chucky had metal bone like frames for hands..

I saw that too but looking at the doll in the beginning when it was made and in the packaging in the stores, nothing suggests that the doll had a metal skeleton.
