The voodoo guy should've just lied

Instead of insulting Chucky, refusing to help him, he should've just told him something fake (but it had to have sounded logical so Chucky would buy it) and THEN tried to alert the authorities while Chucky's blind-sided.

I agree with you. It does seem like a plot hole in the film. I always thought the same thing. I also thought that it would have been cool if later on you find out that there was something extra that John (the Voodoo guy) never told Chucky and that's why everytime he tried to transfer his soul into Andy it didn't work.

reply

Maybe John DID tell Chucky a lie, and the whole 'Transfer your soul into the first person you revealed yourself to' was a lie. That could be why the chant didn't work in CP2.

What I don't get is, why did the chant work the first time? Charles Lee Ray was completely human when he put himself into the doll, so why didn't it work when he was completely human in the doll's body and tried to get into Andy in CP2?

reply

I guess it's because he put his soul into a inanimate object, a doll. If he put his soul in to a doll he could swap bodies easily but since it was an inanimate doll he couldn't do it.

reply

that would have been a nice plot device to have in the sequel. sadly they ignore the guy's involvement for the rest of the series.

the whole ordeal was that the chant was meant to put one's soul into another human body. but at the time of him dying all he came across was the Good Guy doll. since it was not human, only plastic and some circuitry , the doll started to turn human as time went on. but once human he would be trapped in that body forever. because its like a one time only type of thing where you can only transfer your soul one time. the doll acted like a temporary holding for him until he could get into an actual human body.

in Child's Play 2 he ran out of time and so he became human. the chant would no longer worked because its like if he had gone from body to body. so no more chances for him. which is why he is so pissed off and just wants to kill everybody

"It does seem like a plot hole in the film."

There can't be plotholes, when there's no plot.

reply

that would have been the smart thing to do haha.

though it kinda goes with the whole WELL ITS JUST A LITTLE DOLL! JUST KICK IT! way of thinking. cause who knows maybe the guy could have overpowered Chucky and stopped him.

Chucky had the upper hand though with the voodoo doll. if not for that, who knows what would have taken place.especially since Chucky was wounded.

reply

I don't know. For such a little guy he takes a powerful punch able to knock people down and whatever. He's also very hard to kill, look how much damage he went through in CP2? I doubt a bullet in the chest was going to stop him. Kicking and stepping on him isn't going to work.

reply

well im sure he weighs a bit. and he is speedy. but well maybe it would have been fighting with spells and whatever voodoo tools the guy had. i mean he was Chucky's mentor , so maybe he knew how to stop him if his life was to be threatened. but Chucky thought that threw and got the voodoo doll and thats how he beat the guy.
so could have been something of that sort if Chucky didnt have the voodoo doll. maybe there was a voodoo doll of Chucky that he didnt know about stashed away somewhere just in case.

reply

No Chucky likely would've overpowered him, but I don't know. John was his mentor like you guys said. Still, Chucky overpowered two adult men i.e. Detective Norris and when his arm strangled Norris' partner. Due to the fact Chucky was turning human inside of the doll, that means the strength he had as a human was coming into play, hence why he was so tough to tangle with. Mentally insane people have more unnatural strength than regular people though. Chucky was after all, just that...Mentally off haha. Think about it in that viewpoint.

Not to sound like a douche and brag but I myself probably could handle Chucky, as long as he couldn't get his hands on a weapon. I'd just grapple with him, through him around, then toss his little ass on the floor and stomp as hard as I could until he started getting messed up. Afterwards I'd get a knife and stab him through the heart, or shoot him. I might put him through a fan like Andy did in CP3.

reply

Perhaps but he normally doesn't go after people who he knows could easily over power head on. He sneaks about and tries to disable them the best way he can and then goes in for the kill. If he knows your scared of him then he'll go head on,IE Kyle, Karen, Andy, Desilva etc.
