What was the point of the demon rape scene?

Apart from ripping off the scene from Rosemary's Baby, was there any reason for this? Perhaps I missed a plot point..

I did rather enjoy this film, by the way. :p Just this one scene really came off as out of place and never seemed to tie in, or play out in a story sense. Just seemed like it was put in to redo that scene but show more of the demon. :p

As ridiculous as you post sounds, the I shall tell You? What was the point of "Rosemary's Baby?" Because it was about fictional account of Satanists looking for a sacrifice to fulfill their deeds to get blessings.

It is the same with The Church, and I would not compare the two, in Rosemary's baby, Satan was just a Guy in a Monkey suit with fake red contacts.
But The Goat of Mendes in the Church is most sophisticated and impressive in visual effects that haunted me since I was 11 years old when I saw the trailer.

So what is the point to the sequence you asked? It is like asking why Cops eat donuts because they are hungry and need the sugar rush, well let me tell you, the Satanists are looking for a sacrifice to do their bidding.

Okay?

It's just the Devil coming back. The idea of Satan fathering a Satan, Jr. by sexing up a human sacrifice didn't originate with "Rosemary's Baby" (great film, BTW). It's such a common theme in horror that I doubt the director felt the need to explicitly state the purpose.

Anyway, the librarian unleashed the evil when he cracked open the seal. That included summoning the Devil/Unnamed Demon to lead then, and Devil/Unnamed Demons commonly do that sort of thing. That's all it was. Don't overthink it.

The idea of satan raping a woman may not have originated with Rosemary's Baby, but this scene definitely did. Panning across the chanting people, painting symbols in blood on her naked flesh, the woman's POV as the man crawls over her, the blurry close up as his eyes transform from human to demon, the covering of her face as she begins to protest, all filmed identically as they were in RB. 100% ripoff, or homage, if you like.

I call it a rip-off and a direct one.

Even the music cues were identical. They didn't even try.

It was one of the best moments of the film, ripoff or not.
