this movie was truly, truly awful.

I usually try not to say such things about movies, I hate movies yeah sure but I don't think I hated anything as much as I hated this. What a boring mess, The movie started out pretty good actually, I loved the stuff with the knights at the beginning, But once it came to present time the movie almost made me faint. One of the most boring movies I have ever watched, nothing interesting or redeeming about this, boring, cheesy, terrible acting, things didn't make sense, I just hated wasting my time with this. What a dull boring and pointless movie.

I am sure there are people that like this and I hope I don't offend any of those fans but I had a terrible experience with this movie, just awful, I really don't mean to get people mad about this, but my experience with this movie was so bad I had to say something, I'm sorry.
Sometimes I watch a bad movie and I regret watching it, but I don't feel like I literally wasted my life watching something like I did with this.

I loved Demons, I heard about this movie and thought I would give it a watch, but what a mistake that was, boring horrible mess.

I'll look down, and whisper no

reply

It isn't that bad. It's full of plot holes but I still enjoy watching it.

I think a big part of that is the Argento effect. I bet he interfered heavily in the process of making the film. Argento movies are usually senseless as well.

On the other hand, Demons was a mess of a film as well.

You are talking out of your backside. It is better than the movies out these days, because it is so original and ripped off by so many movies.

Don't make me laugh, a mess of a film? Can you make a film like a professional? Let alone original that scenes will be borrowed by many movies years later? I doubt you can.

reply

Wow, it's amazing how people can get so butthurt when people don't like their precious crap fest films.

Just because something is professionally made doesn't make it good. My skills have nothing to do with the subject of Demons being weak beyond words.

You seem to have some real vested interest in people loving Italian horror. Some is quality, but unfortunately most of it is disjointed nonsense.

reply

You can't understand Argento and you think the films are senseless?

Well surprise! 100% of every movie made from drama, romance, and comedy genre is senseless, because movie makers want to waste celluloid in the name of creativity, technical support, giving actors a job to do, to entertain You, by making up senseless, imaginative stories.

It's called fiction, but if You are a "movie buff" and you have a passion for movies, Dario Argento did MENTION many times that his movies are about his most scariest nightmares.
Oh but You are such a movie goer that I thought You would know these things, that's all.
But I guess the world is full of You, and dunkin donuts.

reply

What are you even talking about? Yes, a lot of Argento is beautiful looking nonsense. It looks like you agree, you just forgive it since it is based on dreams.

reply

Admit it, K Sear, you are full of dunkin donuts! Confess!

reply

You got me.

Eh, "The Church" isn't to everyone's taste.

I really like Dario Argento's films, but sometimes they drag. I like the colors, the creepiness, and the heavy metal and / or electronic score. You pretty much know when something important's happening in them because the 80's-tastic music kicks in. The storylines wander.

I watch them for the atmosphere and shock value. Sometimes the dubbing is pretty funny too.

There is no objective reality... and that's Sucker Punch

I've always felt this movie was one of the more concise, linear Italian horror films. They usually make leaps and leave it to the viewer to figure out, or they assume the viewer can fill in the blanks "correctly."

** SPOILERS **

"The Church", though, it's pretty straightforward storytelling: Knights bury some alleged witches, a church is built on it, someone uncracks the seal in the present day, evil ensues, church is destroyed and evil subdued, then again maybe not. End of story. It gets from one point to the next fairly quickly, and I don't find it boring at all.

I like it because it rides the fence between a mainstream schlocky horror film and a more atmospheric, esoteric film typical of the Italian variety.

If you found it boring...well, a single movie can't please everyone and I'm sure there are some films people love that I hate, so that's cool.

reply

I didn't think it was too bad. I do agree that the opening scenes are a lot better than when it switches over to modern times, but it was an okay movie overall. Nothing spectacular but definitely not bad by any means. The cinematography, music, and the church itself were all beautiful, though.

reply

I enjoyed it,I i liked the church atmosphere,it was creepy.

reply

All I could think of during the opening scenes was Monty Python.

Apart from that I got a kind of The Keep(y) (1983) vibe from it. They'd be good as a double feature.

reply

Haven't seen month python.
