So let me get this straight

A bunch of Teutonic d-bags massacre an entire village because the villagers are supposedly demons, which they do prove to be. Then a church gets built to contain an infection by a medieval scientist who is later murdered by his own employers for witchcraft and then gives a final speech about how they are wrong and the whole thing is supposedly a disease? But it's still demonic anyways?

La Chiesa had a lot of cool imagery and surrealism but it reads as though the script went through only one draft. I got the feeling that the film's subtext was critical of religion but then again it seems to endorse religion. Weird

I agree with the OP on this one. There was a quote that the Teutonic Knights were influence on the Nazi's yet the Demons come back to hurt innocent Church goers just because they were there. I think the proper judgment would have been the descendant's of the Knight or something of that nature.

This is Italian horror though, one quick script 10,000 camera angles and a couple effects guys with a Goblin score and we are good.
