Final Moments of the Movie...

OK so, the final scene of the movie where Lotte is exploring a part of the Church after someone is giving a speech for the people who died in the crumbling of the church etc, Lotte finds a little statue head of Baphomet. We hear a roar of some kind and Lotte looks around scared, the statue head thing launches into the river and leaves a hole from which a blueish glow is emanating. Lotte looks into the hole and smiles, then credits role.

Was Lotte possessed and the evil is still around? What was the significance of this scene?
