Watching it now. I am liking it so far.

reply

Me too. Has a nice tone and style to it.

"Hot sun, cool breeze, white horse on the sea, and a big shot of vitamin B in me!"

reply

I liked it! didn't remind me of Prince of Darkness, really. just that both were in an old church.

I liked it when the demons possessed all the people in the church.
the old woman in the bell tower using her husbands head to gong the bells was funny.

seems the demons played on peoples fears, kinda like Poltergeist.

Good movie.

reply

I agree. The bell tower scene was unexpected and inspired.

It coming on again tonight. At least The Underground is back on the air. They took the entire month of May 2016 off.

I noticed the listing and came here to read about the film. I had something else I planned to watch, but I'm considering giving "The Church" a chance, as I hadn't come across this one before. Often, if I haven't seen a film, I've read about it. As far as I know, this one is "out of the blue" for me.

I've been getting a number of surprises lately, mainly thanks to COMET.

I really enjoyed it. Not a perfect movie, But fun. Saturday Night Creature Feature movie. I am in my 40's and this is the stuff they played late at night when I was a kid. I am going to rewatch it Tonight just to get the thrill. The First 10 minutes or so are very solid. Budget is low but they make it work.

Watching it now..and I agree with what you said. Goodness, I miss those late night creature features...TCM is as close as you get nowadays on a late, late Saturday night...

I was watching something and missed the start! But, I found a copy on YouTube that looks intact. So, I can see it from the start after all.

I switched over, but, at 2:25 a.m., it's far into the film.

I recall USA in the Seventies and Eighties showing so many movies that are rather obscure. I can't recall the one station that, in the wee hours of the morning, would show some of those Gold Key/Emenegger films that NEVER get shown anymore and don't seem to be available on DVD. I used to have some of these taped then stupidly recorded over them: "Foes", "Laboratory", and so many others. Then, of course, there was "UP All Night"~as Rhonda (I think that was her name) used to say it.

At least COMET seems to be coming through with some interesting ones. THIS also does occasionally. And, TCM surprises us, doesn't it?

Yeah THIS is great for obscure movies. I wish I had Comet Tv where I live. TCM underground is awesome when they are on. TCM gives them breaks for weeks. Then they appear out of nowhere lol. I really Miss Up All Night. Saw so many Troma movies and other out of the radar films. . Yeah it was Rhonda and Gilbert took over at one point. In Bay area in the 80's we had channel 2. about 11pm Creature feature came on. With John Stanley. So many Z movies so many Memories.

anyone remember 100% weird? and Monstervision?

those were great! TNT I believe. watched them every time they were on.

So true TCM underground is the closest we have. why does it disappear now and then?

then back??! hey I look forward to these. I watched the Church again. and love it.

I wish they would air Deathdream more often. that was creepy! I think he comes back without a soul. I like those types of horror movies. kinda like the Monkey's Paw.

but more sinister. the end where he is burying himself is kind of sad though. he knew he didn't belong among the living.

reply

Yes 100% weird and Monstervision where awesome shows.

This thing is pretty corn nuts!  Bonus points for the creative grisly hallucinations and using pipe organ in the film score.
