I Believe Lee Harvey Oswald Acted Alone...

Pretty funny that three years later Kevin Costner went on to play DA Jim Garrison in JFK, who most certainly did not think Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.

I hear that. When this movie comes on I rewind the DVR so I can hear Costner say that over and over. The irony is palpable.

And he played a wannabe baseball player in Field of Dreams. Oh my.

reply

Actually, he played a guy who's father was a wannabe baseball player. Costner's character had grown disillusioned with the game as a teenager due to his father trying to relive his dreams through his son.

And of course as we approach the 50 year anniversary of JFK's assassination, there are still plenty who think Oswald didn't act alone, the CIA killed Kennedy, yada yada yada......

Then again, 10% of Americans think the moon landing was faked, so there you go...

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

I think the percentage that do believe Iraq was linked to 9/11 and that we did in fact find WMDs there is even more frightening. JFK's assassination at least has an air of mystery and gravity to it that it makes sense for people to think it couldn't just be one man who killed the most powerful individual human being on the planet at the time. Thats the nature of symbolic power, particularly when its resident within a single man.

See you never know what future will bring for you, even if you are a movie role of what movie role you accept

reply

Haha.. That's so weird because I was just going to come on and start the exact same topic.

After watching the 11.22.63 mini series recently it instantly made me think of Costner's opposing viewpoints with his characters when it came to Oswald.

reply

Lol, watching this for the first time and that line caught my attention too!
