Is he ambidexteris?

In the first game we see, he's batting left handed.
At the ball machine, he's batting right handed!

What's the go?
And apologies if someone else has already asked...

In the commentary extras Kevin says he's a right hander but prefers to bat left handed.

That's not unusual. A switch hitter will end up batting lefty more than righty because most pitchers are right handed. They usually end up better hitters from the left side even when it's not their dominant side because they get so much more practice that way.

He's a switch hitter, you see him hit home runs from both sides.

Ron Shelton was impressed with Costner's swing. Ron wrote and directed the movie, inspired by his own experience in the minors, and said Costner had a nicer swing than he did.

Costner definitely had a more realistic looking swing than most actors playing baseball players, just like Charlie Sheen as a pitcher.
