What's up? Now this is the conversation, post, that I should be involved in. John Carpenters The Thing. A little trivia. Rob Botin who did the makeup, effects, was a prodigy of Rick Baker ( An American Werewolf in London) who ( Rob ) also did The Howling. It's amazing that over 30 yrs ago, some of the best was created. I'm glad to be a fan with, a little knowledge. The Blob, The Fly, The Thing, ( funny, a lot of " The ". ) All cool! Rock on!

hands down the Thing. In every possible aspect. The thing is actually scary and has a better setting. The blob seems more like a cheap 50s alien are bad movie. Nothing special whatsoever and one boring monster.

...but they hung him anyway.
Hanged, Ami. Your father was not a tapestry.

Different vibes from them... The Blob is a great but typically '80s horror with some light moments and although great practical effects, a few 'of the time' visual effects...

Whereas The Thing is timeless tight, claustrophobic, depressing, nihilistic, bleak, tense... With great practical effects, acting, character development...

The Thing is a masterpiece and easily one of the top 5 horror films ever made. The Blob is run-of-the-mill mediocrity. There is no comparison.
