Why isn't Alan Ruck in this?

Why isn't Alan Ruck in this? He was in the original 1985 Broadway cast but not in the movie? Is it maybe Broderick doesn't want to be typecast as Ruck's partner (the two being in Ferris Bueller and all).

What part did he have in the play?

The broadway production was before Ferris Bueller. Ruck played Don Carney. My opinion is that Ruck was too tall and would've lessened Mulhern's Wykowski threatening physique.

Because he was 32 at the time and wasn't someone who looked "really" young for his age (like Matthew and some others). Age isn't as important on stage as it is on film with close-ups, etc.

Ruck said in the extras for FBDO that he almost lost THAT role because they were already concerned about his age.

'Then' and 'than' are different words - stop confusing them.
